Chances are that you are considering starting an Internet Marketing business or you are so frustrated that you are ready to give up.  Are you tired of the information overload?

Everywhere you look on the Internet there is an overload of information telling you how to earn tons of money fast.  The problem is that there is a lack of information on how to actually get started.  All the tips, tricks, and strategies can’t help if you don’t act on them or don’t know how.  Of course, first you must have the necessary tools and information. As with anything being built, it must start with a good foundation.

 Before you begin

1. Familiarize yourself with basic internet marketing terms. Examples: Affiliate Marketing, Niche Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Auto-responder, Landing page, Blog, SEO (Search engine optimization), and PPC (Pay per click).

2. Set a budget. Initial investments might include a domain name, website hosting, email auto-responder, and training. There may be other expenses depending on whether you already know or are willing to learn how to start a website or blog and create content such as writing articles.

3. Get organized. It will be helpful to set up a specific email for your business. A separate banking/Paypal account may be a good idea. Gather organization supplies such as notebooks, files, and address books. Be prepared to record multiple email addresses, passwords, and affiliate codes.

4. Go ahead and get an account set up with some of the Affiliate Networks if you plan to do Affiliate Marketing. Examples: www.clickbank.com and www.cj.com. Join an internet marketing forum such as www.warriorforum.com.

5. Start a To Do list and sort by priority.

First steps

1. You must decide what you want to market. Many of your other decisions will be based on what you choose. The top 5 Niches are Internet Marketing, Real Estate Investing, Wealth Building, Network Marketing, and Weight loss. It will be helpful if you are already knowledgeable about any of these. Choose something you like or find interesting.

2. Decide where you want to market your products. Some choices include Social Media such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, or LinkedIn which will require you to build up followers. You may choose to have your own website or blog to capture visitor’s email addresses so you can send them your offers. An email auto-responder, such as Aweber, will be very helpful for this. You may choose Affiliate Marketing for pre-existing products which is the easiest way to get started since the content has already been created for you.

Take Action

Beware of scam programs claiming you will “get rich quick”. Check the reviews on any training product you are considering buying. There are many blogs, websites, newsletters, and e-books that offer free and valuable information.

It’s just not possible to learn everything right away. The most important thing to do is to take action on what you’ve already learned so you can enjoy successfully making money online while you work from home.
